about-place / about-face

Curated by writer and artist, Kevin Wilson, about-place / about-face takes a very different viewpoint on the concept of ‘natural place’. Working from the assumption that our perspective and understanding of ‘natural place’ is imbued with our own lived experience, 16 artists have produced artworks ranging from painting, photography, digital animation, video, sculpture, moving image installation and collaborative works that examine the idea that when we look at a place, we inevitably look in a mirror at ourselves. Artists involved are: Kevin Wilson, Simone Eisler, Colin Pennock, Nicole Voevodin-Cash, Joolie Gibb, Emma Thorp, Mathew Stanton, Melissa Stannard, Kalulah Bird (Luke Barrowcliffe), John Fuller, Karla Pringle, Sharka Bosakova, Katie Harris-MacLeod, Marguerite de Mosa, James Muller and Kane Brunies (Kabi Kabi).

Queensland Garden Expo

In 2024 the Queensland Garden Expo will celebrate their 40th Anniversary over four special days. Held at Nambour on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, it is ideally situated to showcase all the best of subtropical gardening. An extensive Lecture and Demonstration Program, Landscape Display Gardens, over 360 exhibits including 55 nurseries, a Giant Kitchen Garden Feature and a cooking stage are just a few of the things visitors can enjoy at the Expo. Great food, entertainment and a range of free children's activities all combine to make Queensland Garden Expo a great day out for all the family.
